On Friday, 31 October 2025, in the evening at around 17:00, in Širvintų district municipality, on the Vilnius–Panevėžys (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 42.09), a car ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by an unidentified person, who failed to choose a safe speed. He fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
