Volkswagen Golf and Audi crash on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas road
On Sunday, 10 November 2013, in the evening at 17:17, in Trakų district municipality, on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas main road (kilometre 38.73), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Golf and an Audi A4. Two people died — the 21-year-old driver of the Volkswagen and the 53-year-old driver of the Audi. Four people were injured — a 20-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (hospitalized), a 20-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (hospitalized), a 19-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (hospitalized) and a 49-year-old passenger of the Audi (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 21-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (1 year of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. Both drivers were sober.
