On Saturday, 26 July 2014, in the evening at 19:40, in Palangos city municipality, on the Palanga–Lazdininkai regional road (kilometre 3.90), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved an Opel Omega and a Nissan Murano registered in Russia. One person was injured — the 36-year-old driver of the Nissan (a citizen of Russia) (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 20-year-old driver of the Opel (1 year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed and entered the oncoming traffic lane. Both drivers were sober.
