Dozing Volvo truck driver runs off the road on the Kaunas–Zarasai–Daugpilis road
On Monday, 25 August 2014, in the morning at 9:25, in Anykščių district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zarasai–Daugpilis main road (kilometre 94.20), a Volvo 460 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 42-year-old driver of the Volvo (a citizen of Belarus) (8 years of driving experience), who was driving fatigued and fell asleep at the wheel. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
