DAF FT truck and Krone crash on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai road
On Saturday, 10 January 2015, at night at 2:45, in Kauno district municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai (kelio ruožo su skir. juosta d. pusė) main road (kilometre 21.81), a DAF FT XF105.460 registered in Latvia ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 55-year-old driver of the DAF (a citizen of Latvia) (37 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 80 km/h.
