On Wednesday, 15 June 2016, in the afternoon at 14:22, in Panevėžio district municipality, on the Smilgiai–Sujetai regional road (kilometre 4.25), a Renault Laguna rolled over. Five people were injured — the 23-year-old driver of the Renault (treated as an outpatient), a 12-year-old passenger of the Renault (hospitalized), a 39-year-old passenger of the Renault (treated as an outpatient), a 18-year-old passenger of the Renault (hospitalized) and a 14-year-old passenger of the Renault (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 23-year-old driver of the Renault. He was drunk (2.75‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. A 36-year-old passenger of the Renault was drunk (0.86‰). A 39-year-old passenger of the Renault was drunk (2.38‰). A 18-year-old passenger of the Renault was drunk (0.63‰). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
