Škoda Octavia and Mercedes-Benz crash on the Panevėžys–Šiauliai road
On Monday, 31 October 2016, in the afternoon at around 16:00, in Radviliškio district municipality, on the Panevėžys–Šiauliai main road (kilometre 42.21), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Škoda Octavia and a Mercedes-Benz S320. Two people were injured — the 62-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient) and a 60-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 33-year-old driver of the Škoda (14 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
