Mercedes-Benz Actros truck runs off the road on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas road
On Monday, 13 March 2017, in the evening at 18:50, in Trakų district municipality, on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas main road (kilometre 20.10), a Schmitz SCS 24/L ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 54-year-old driver of a Mercedes-Benz Actros 1844 (35 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
