Toyota Yaris and two other cars crash on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas road
On Thursday, 17 August 2017, in the morning at 6:40, in Trakų district municipality, on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas main road (kilometre 30.25), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Toyota Yaris, a Ford Galaxy and a Volkswagen Golf. One person died — the 26-year-old driver of the Toyota (was not wearing a seatbelt). One person was injured — the 19-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 26-year-old driver of the Toyota (6 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. All drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry.
