Mercedes-Benz truck and three other vehicles crash on the Ąžuolų Būda–Kazlų Rūda road
On Tuesday, 7 March 2023, in the afternoon at 16:07, in Kazlų Rūdos municipality, on the Ąžuolų Būda–Kazlų Rūda national road (kilometre 2), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Mercedes-Benz U5000, a Mercedes-Benz U5000, an Audi A4 and a Mercedes-Benz U5000. Seven people were injured — the 26-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz U5000 (treated as an outpatient), a 21-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz U5000 (treated as an outpatient), a 22-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz U5000 (treated as an outpatient), a 22-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz U5000 (treated as an outpatient), a 24-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz U5000 (treated as an outpatient), a 23-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz U5000 (treated as an outpatient) and a 21-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz U5000 (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 26-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz U5000 (8 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
