Saab 9-3 and Volkswagen crash on the Anykščiai–Troškūnai–Panevėžys road
On Wednesday, 21 February 2024, in the evening at 18:47, in Panevėžio district municipality, Velžio village, on Nevėžio street, at the junction with Malūno street, a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a Saab 9-3 and a Volkswagen Bora. One person was injured — a 18-year-old passenger of the Saab (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt). The accident was caused by the 18-year-old driver of the Saab (1 year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
